Anurag Bhartiya published this great post on what do you do and challenges us to share our story.
I discovered this image by Alex Alemany 10 years ago, and it touched me deeply.

Recently, I realized that it perfectly illustrates the concept of self-reflection and recursive awareness that’s central to the inner leadership work I do and how I guide leaders.
This artist painted a picture of himself painting himself. My work helps leaders learn this kind of deep self-observation.
It’s a great visual representation of infinite self-awareness. This is way beyond the surface-level awareness commonly discussed. This relates to what I do in several key ways:
- Multiple levels of awareness – The painting reveals layers of the artist’s self-observation. I help leaders observe their thoughts, behaviors, and patterns with greater awareness.
- Breaking free from autopilot – This image represents stepping outside oneself to see clearly. Similarly, I guide people to step out of their habitual thinking to observe themselves from a new perspective.
- Creative self-discovery – Just like an artist uses their craft, I engage in transformative talks and visual designs. This helps leaders find their true selves.
I find it’s a powerful metaphor for the kind of recursive self-awareness that emerges when we learn to observe ourselves beyond our usual thinking mind.
We see the seer who’s seeing. This is the leadership the world is desperately looking for and needs more of today.
